Spam Attack, Security Upgrade

Seems we got some nasty spammers that have attacked our system, in the process of cleaning them up I noticed that they had taken over one of our sites…which had to be deleted…I feel really bad about this, but there was only one or two posts on there so hopefully it can be recreated with little to no trouble. I have updated the security business, and hopefully battened down all the hatches. Contact me if you need help.

New Stats

The old stats program no longer worked with the upgrades, so you can now use google analytics (which is far better) to keep track of your stats. Sign up for a google analytics account then go to the settings-> google analytics, screen to input your id number.

Massive Upgrades

You will notice that we have undergone a massive upgrade, everything seems to be ok, let me know using the contact form if you have any trouble.

There are about 50-100 changes that were made to the back end, almost all of them adding new features. Poke around there is a lot of new stuff.

We will also be accepting new blogs using the signup button, as well as site wide spam protection has been updated.

As you may have noticed we were having a bit of a problem with some spammers around here the last couple of days. We have had to turn off new signups however if you wish to get a site simply use the contact form and let me know. I will set one up for you.

Two New Themes

I have installed two new themes.

Godfrey: A nice red theme that has nice curves.

Dilectio: A sassy theme with nice colors.

New Policy: Inactive Blogs

If you sign up for a blog, and don’t write at least one post in the first 2 weeks, it will be removed.

Stopping The Spammers!

I have implemented a new CAPTCHA for the login, and sign up screen, you will notice you now have to type in a short string of letters and numbers to log into your blog. I am sorry to make you do one more thing, but I am sick of clearing out blogs for people selling ring tones, and promoting the newest in weight loss drugs. Let me know if you have any problems with the system.

New Feature Super Speed!

I have installed some goodies that should make the site a lot faster, you may notice that your blog loads faster and behaves better. You might also notice that some parts of your blog take longer to update (recent comments, and some sidebar widgets). If you experience any problems let me know.

Upgrade done

So the upgrade is done, here is what “should” be fixed now,

Long lists of spam links in the titles, dead (I hope)
Mega long spam titles, dead (titles will now be limited to 50 chars)
