		<description>Oh, I know there is no such thing as a green car, nor is fuel or road tax anything but a sop to the light-green lobby; but it's still remarkable how blatant the press manage to be when a good headline is in the offing.

You would think people would have seen through it by now: shows how controlled we are.

		<description>The trouble is that this road tax is yet another fine example of greenwash.

Cars pollute by burning oil and spewing forth carbon dioxide.  If we want a tax against this evil, the appropriate places to impose taxes are on the sale (or better still, manufacture) of gas-guzzling cars AND on the fuel.

The latter makes the most sense, because that way those who pollute the most pay the most.

The Daily Mail back in March unwittingly showed how a Merc 4x4 can be greener than a Toyota Prius.
