This is something we need to know about

From the change.org site:
The USDA’s proposed National Animal Identification System (NAIS) was originally designed to give big beef producers help in getting export markets which required disease controls. The idea is that every single livestock animal in the United States will be identified and tagged. All livestock animal movements, including horses taken to a training [...]

Scattered

I looked over the list of things I wanted to do for 2008: out of 32 items, I got 11 done.
Now some of them just weren’t a good fit. Others, though, didn’t get done because I was too scatter-brained to get them done.
Can anyone relate?
I’m looking at this post by Tracy about starting Independence Days. [...]

Good hard work

I spent the day today helping a friend slaughter and butcher one of her goats. It was the first time she had ever slaughtered one of her animals, and the first time I had ever done one on my own (not to mention goats are a little different than pigs, and we spent a while [...]

More about indoor gardens

Here’s a link to Patti Moreno’s newest video about her hydroponic system. She gets 700 seedlings every three weeks! In the video, she says that translates to $1400 in sales at her market stand.
That particular video is an overview of her set-up, but she has this other video showing her setting it up. Looks like [...]

Survey says …

“Best bread you’ve ever made!”

Trying a new recipe

I decided to try the recipe from the Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day site.
I think I put in too much water; this is more like The Blob than what the videos show.
I’m using my pizza stone to set it on. I guess we’ll just have to see how it turns out!

Now this is exciting

The lettuces that I planted on Dec. 9th are sprouting.
Had a little scare with mold over the top but the seeds seem to be ignoring it, and it mostly went away.

So what is it you want to know?

The stats program for this blog is different from most, in that it doesn’t seem to let you know what people were searching for to find this place. But it does have the top most read (meaning you clicked on that link to read/comment/send the link to someone else) pages, which I find very interesting.

These [...]

Got a lot done today.

It was a beautiful day.
Took Leon out to run around, afterwards got a lot of fur off him, as I hadn’t brushed him in a week and he sheds like crazy. Covered over most of the garden plots for the cold front while he ran around trying to tangle himself in my legs. One of [...]

Well, this is a bit of a jump

Even for Oklahoma!

Let’s see …

I’ve been gone a while, haven’t I? Didya miss me?
This week I went to a wedding, went back to playing World of Warcraft (my whole family got copies of The Lich King), and have been having fun on chess.com
And it’s supposed to snow today! Yippee!
But Sharon posted her Independence Days update the other [...]

Help some children this holiday

I want to tell you about a program that I’ve been with since its inception, and that I think is worth donating to.
Thousands of needy children who would otherwise not get a single gift at Christmas this year, will hopefully now get several!
Announcing The 8th Annual Internet Toy Drive, in affiliation with the official U.S. [...]
